Construction Estimates for SEIR Building at UT Arlington

Halford Busby partnered with Page Southerland Page – Dallas on the construction of the Science and Engineering Innovation and Research (SEIR) Building at the University of Texas at Arlington. The SEIR Building features approximately 234,000 square feet of space for state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary research and teaching labs and classrooms, faculty and graduate student offices, administrative offices, conference rooms and support areas. This includes a four-story research wing, two-story classroom wing with over 21,000 square feet of classroom space and 900 seats. The laboratory wing showcases glass interior walls facing into the atrium space, creating visibility into the research that’s being conducted. The SEIR Building will also include dedicated laboratory facilities built with vibration-resistant structures allowing for the use of highly sensitive research equipment.

The building’s design incorporates several energy-saving features such as green and light-reflecting roofs, window designs for improved light use, rain and condensate water capture and storage for landscaping, use of recycled materials, and others that will allow the facility to meet requirements for LEED® Gold certification.

Halford Busby provided a Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents on this project. AECOM Hunt served as construction manager. The groundbreaking occurred on October 27, 2016.
