Services: Construction cost estimating including a program estimate, schematic design estimate and design development estimate
Client: University of Houston College of Medicine
Project features:
The University of Houston College of Medicine aims to address the shortage of primary care physicians who care for underserved communities in Houston and Texas with the construction of a new four-story medical school building. According to the Houston Chronicle, “The college would become the first new medical school in Houston in nearly 50 years.” The new school building is scheduled to open in the summer 2022.
Halford Busby provided both a program estimate and 90 percent schematic design estimate for this project. The schematic design estimate included a breakdown of four areas including:
- the site (exterior, everything around the building),
- parking (two separate lots),
- Central Utility Plant (CUP) and
- a new 3-story College of Medicine building.
Most recently, Halford Busby just finished a 50 percent design development estimate with the same breakdowns of the site, CUP and building.
